Privacy Policy

Effective 20 October 2026

Overview

pump'd is a fuel finder app that helps drivers locate nearby petrol stations, compare prices, and check live queue lengths. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

Data we collect

  • Location — used to find stations near you. We only access location while the app is in use and never store precise location on our servers.
  • Anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on first launch, used to associate your queue and availability reports. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID, or any other personal data.
  • Community reports — when you submit a queue length or fuel availability report, we store the report content, timestamp, and your anonymous device ID.

Data we do not collect

  • Name, email address, or any account information
  • Payment or financial data
  • Persistent or background location
  • Contacts, photos, or any other device data

How we use your data

Location is used solely to query nearby stations and is never transmitted to our servers. Community reports are used to display live queue and availability information to other users. The anonymous device ID allows us to weight reports and prevent abuse.

Third-party services

Fuel price data is sourced from publicly available feeds. We use AWS infrastructure to serve the API. No data is sold to or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

The website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not store your IP address. Postcode searches on the website are sent to postcodes.io to find the location, and are not stored by us.

Data retention

Community reports are retained for a rolling period to power live station data. Anonymous device identifiers are retained for the same period. You can request deletion of any reports associated with your device ID by contacting us.

Press contacts

If you work for a newsroom we email local fuel price figures to, we hold your work email address, your name if your publication lists it, the outlet you work for, and where we found those details (your publication's own contact page). We also keep a record of the emails we've sent you and whether you've replied, in our database (AWS, Ireland) and in our Google Workspace mailbox.

We do this under legitimate interests: free local data that newsrooms ask for and use, sent at most once a week. Reply "stop" to any email, or email josh@pumpd.app, and the emails stop. Any reply also stops the automatic emails. If you ask, we delete your details, keeping only your email address on a do-not-contact list so you're never added again.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. As we hold no personally identifiable information, there is very little data to act on — but we will always respond to requests in good faith.
